Wild Hair Studio
We are a small family farm located in middle Tennessee. The sheep began as a 4-H project several years ago. In 2008, a group of Purebred Romeldale/CVM sheep came to Tennessee to make their home on our farm. The purebred Romeldale/CVM sheep are a critically endangered American Heritage breed best known for their soft fleece and distinctive patterns/markings. Romeldale/CVM sheep come in a variety of colors and patterns, in addition to being easily managed – in short a shepherd and fiber artist’s dream.
In 2015, a group of Registered Gotland sheep joined our flock. The Gotland sheep are being establishing in America through an upbreeding program. Sheep must be 75% Gotland or higher percentage to be registered.
In addition to our sheep, Amanda is an Indie Dyer and has a fiber studio and dye shop on the farm. We offer fiber from our Purebred Romeldale/CVM sheep, Registered Gotland sheep and other fibers from our farm for sale in natural and hand-dyed colors for spinning, felting and fiber arts. Amanda also offers hand painted warps, skeins and tops from our dye studio.
Wild Hair Studio is not a self sustaining farm. Fiber sales help cover feed costs and other routine farm expenses as we work to preserve this American Heritage Breed of sheep and the existence of our small family farm.
At this point there is not a regular update schedule for the shop. Amanda is currently working toward her PhD, along with a full time off farm job, so schedules vary. Join our Ravlery group (Wild Hair Studio) for shop update announcements.
