Purebred Romeldale/CVM Roving from our flock

4 oz of Purebred Romeldale/CVM Roving – Mattie, Trixie, and Michelle

This roving is from Mattie, Trixie, and Michelle, three of our Romeldale/CVM ewes.  Trixie and Michelle are both dark brown and Mattie is a light gray/off white.  The roving was processed to intentionally keep the colors semi-separate.

Romeldale/CVM sheep are an endangered, American Heritage breed which are known for beautiful fleeces with next-to-the-skin softness.  CVM is a specific color pattern within the Romeldale breed.  Along with the CVM color pattern, Romeldales also come in white and a variety of natural colors.

The fiber for this roving was grown on our small family farm, carefully skirted and then mill processed.  Each batch of roving varies in color and texture slightly because fleeces do have variations from year to year.  Therefore, each batch of roving is unique.

Roving can occasionally have small pieces of vegetable matter missed by the washing and carding process.  Please note that this batch of roving has a bit more vegetable matter than I would prefer.  Shearing was later this year, so the fleeces had a longer staple length, but the sheep also had more time to pick up vegetable matter in their fleece.

Roving is perfect for spinning, felting and crafting.

Please note the actual color may vary slightly depending on your monitor/computer.
